OCEAN OF AIR BIOSENSor
We Live In An Ocean Of Air is a virtual reality world created by Marshmallow Laser Feast. It was first exhibited in 2018 at London’s Saatchi Gallery. For this work, Kai Lab developed electronics with Artists & Engineers to achieve real-time breath and heart rate monitoring.
In 2021, Kai Lab revised the original unit to optimise the VR set up for touring. This included modifying the biosensor to be more easily assembled, redesigning the electronics to fit on a single circuit board, upgrading the internal temperature and heart rate sensing features, and carrying out bespoke electromechanical design to ensure that the PCB was securely housed in the enclosure unit.
