Thrive is an installation commissioned by Monash University, Melbourne. It is composed of six trees, decorated with oragami leaves and interactive LED flowers. Embeded within the trees is a ten channel surround sound system, generating a 3D soundscape. The flowers use infrared proximity sensors to translate nearby movement into light and sound patterns. The result is a sparse, futuristic forest that sits in a user-controlled sound scape.
For this work, our engineer and designer Sean worked with the Australian-based NODE laboratory.
